Happy 1st Birthday Daxton!!!!

It has been snowing for almost 12 hours straight so I can't think of anything better to do than catch up on a little blogging.... my favorite!

Can you believe that our little boy is one??? I totally can't! It seems like yesterday... literally. His birthday is at a whirlwind time of year, but we still got in some good celebratin'. I am not going to document every picture, but he had a great Tonka themed party, my mom made an awesome cake, Daxton LOVED and devoured every single morsle of his cupcake, and every gift he was given has been thouroughly enjoyed.... especially the Buzz car. It is so cute to see him walk around everywhere with it!

He is one now and officially weights 20.06 lbs!!!!! So that means a new car seat (thanks to Great Grandma Showell)!!! I think he like it... as much as any child would like a car seat. He just looks so big!

Speaking of looking big and old..... check out this handsome little man! He would absolutely NOT smile for the camera this day, but itsn't it SO cute!

Daxton's little milestones:
-weighs in at a whopping 20 lbs even and 28 inches.... all in about the 10thish percentile. I knew it would start dropping off someday... the kid is doomed to be short and skinny, with a big head.
-He still isn't walking and has expressed ZERO interest. You try and stand him up and he lifts up his legs or drops straight to his bum. Oh well, no rush little buddy.
-he jibber jabbers all day. It sounds like he is telling stories and his eyes get really expressive like we are supposed to understand him.
-He mimics a lot of words, but his favorite word is UH-OH right now. He says it then drops what he is holding, or says it if he hears something drop, everything is uh-oh lately. It is so cute. He slept in our room with us over Christmas and when he would stir during the night he would just say it over and over.... not so cute then. :)
-Weaning from the bottle and formula.... don't ask. He HATES milk. Suggesstions anyone?
This little boy has blessed our lives so much I can't even express it. He is SUCH a happy, busy, mischevious little boy and I wouldn't change a thing about him. We love you Baby Daxton!

11 Months

What a cheezer huh!?? This little boy has our hearts for sure. I can't believe he will turn ONE in like three weeks.... it makes me crazy to think how fast this year has gone and how much we love our little Baby Daxton.

He loves to drive cars... any kind so long as it has wheels. Even better though is he already makes the sound effects..... vroom vroom! Such a boy... and we didn't even teach him. If it has wheels it vrooms.

He LOVES LOVES LOVES to give big, wet, slobbery, open mouth (sometimes tounge) kisses! He gives them to mostly anybody that asks, but him and his little cousin couldn't stop kissing! He loves little Taylor.

Our first Thanksgiving together! Last year at this time I was big and pregnant and couldn't wait to meet my sweet little boy. This year we are grateful to have him, more grateful than I could have ever imagined.

Daxton and Daddy love doing bedtime together. It is sooooo cute to watch. Daxton has quite a little routine down and is really starting to love him blankie that Aunt Kathryn gave to him. He goes to his crib, sticks him little arm through and grabs his binki and blanky and is ready to snuggle with daddy. He mostly just rubs his face around in the blanket... it's so cute.

Other things that he is up to:
-He is the BUSIEST little person I know. He is the little engine that could.
-He is such a good eater and will eat anything... and a lot of it.
-He loved to push things around walking, but has yet to take his first independent step. I don't think it will be long.
-He loves people... ALL people and will go to anybody. He especially loves little kids and giggles non-stop when he sees another baby. He loves to play with his cousins.
-He gabbers ALL DAY. seriously.... never ending. He copies everything we say, well tries anyway. I have a feeling when he really figures out how to talk he is going to have a lot to say. :)
-He used to be the best traveler ever.... now??? Not so much. Sad day, I was starting to think my little boy was perfect in every way.
We love him so much. He is sometimes overwhelmingly busy, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.... ever.

10 months

Well, on to 11 months now with my blogging slackerness! My little man ain't so little anymore. We traveled all weekend and visited with lots of family with the same age little boys and it made me realize how big Daxton is getting... and how I love that he only has one tooth instead of a mouthful and that he isn't walking yet and so many other things because that means he can still be my baby and not a big boy!

We had to get a gate to trap this busy boy! I didn't want to find a broken little body at the bottom of my stairs.... sorry that was a little gory. The thing is.... he LOVES the gate. He b-lines it for the stairs even more now so he can play with it. He loves to shake it, lean backwards holding on with only one hand (scary), and yell down the stairwell to hear his echo. It's pretty cute and totally creating a false sense of security...... ohwell.

He is IMPOSSIBLE to get to smile for the camera anymore. He is all smiles all the time and then the camera comes out and he becomes all serious. He's still dang cute though.

We went to a cute little pumpkin patch this year.

Sorry for the nakedness, well not really because I know NOTHING is better than a nakey baby! Daxton loves loves loves to be nakey. The second we take his clothes off he flips over and starts panting like a dog and crawling really really fast in circles. So strange. See the pen in the picture? Well that is one of his new friends. Everyday or a couple times a day he finds something that he thinks is really interesting and totes it ALL over the house. If you try and take it away it can be pretty devastating! This day it happened to be the pen, tonight it was the baby monitor, sometimes it is even just his sock. I'm tellin ya... this kid has silly written all over him. He is just SOOOOO busy and so full of it...... but i love every second. He is the happiest little boy. There is not hardly anything that really upsets him. He is so indepenent and curious. He is NOT a mama's boy.... He loves me tons, but loves everybody else too. This little boy is seriously special!

Some other things that he is up to:

He claps, dances, and waves byebye all the whole day long. He never stops. He even danced the whole way through the ward choir performance which was like the most mellow song EVER.

He is starting to shake his little (actually kinda big) head and try to say no no.

He is starting to mimic all sorts of noises.... i mean all sorts so be careful what you "do" around him. Tonight someone (won't mention who) belched loudly and Daxton followed with a very similar sound! What a funny kid.

He is such a boy and totally giggles when anybody burps or toots.

He is getting mightly sassy these days. He swats me away when he doesn't like what i am doing, saying, or feeding him. He has such a mind of his own!

He is the sweetest little boy on the planet. Lately, he has been wanting to cuddle after his naps. This is a really new development and one that i am super pleased with! I love his snuggles and wet kisses.

For Your Entertainment

So I don't really have anything that great to say, not that I ever do, but have had some picture requests! So feast your eyes upon these....

He can climb our whole flight of narrow, steep stairs. YESSSSS! Sense any sarcasm.... I think so. Today we actually went and bought a gate so we can keep our child alive.

I think Daxton thinks he is a little puppy. Lately, he has been putting everything and anything that he is playing with in his mouth and crawling around with it until he reaches his destination and then will take it out and play with it..... until he crawls aways again and puts it back in his mouth. So silly.

My whole family wen to Park City for the confrence weekend and stayed in a pretty sweeeet house. The master tub was like a hot tub so of course all the kids had to take a bath together..... little did they all know that Daxton still pees the second he hits the water. YUM. Dang, they are cute cute cute.

This family (whose house we (my dad) rented) was full of animals that he and his wife had hunted. Landon was in heaven. And they had life size Blues Brothers... creepy.

FIRST haircut! He had this random piece of really long hair on top of his head that hung down like poorly cut bangs. It had to go.

Daxton is totally into climbing in things, on tables, in my cabinets, etc. For instance, he doesn't just crawl from point A to point B. He turns on his 4 wheel drive and goes through the table, under the piano bench, and under the kitchen table.
(don't mind the dirty onesie... it was one of those ghetto stay at home and don't get dressed kinda days)

We drove up to Sundance to see the fall colors. It wasn't the "prime" time for it, but it was still SOOOO beautiful. Leave it to me to forget a diaper and of course he totally decided to have a blow out on our way there (after not going for like almost 2 days)= poo everywhere. awesome. Good thing he is pretty chill and didn't mind until we got home. I am such a good mom.

Well, tata for now.

9 Months

Our little rascal is getting so big! His current stats as of 9-23-10 are:

18.45 lbs (18%)
28 inches (42%)

All pretty normal for him. He is growing like a weed and changing every single day. I can't believe he has already been in our home now for 9 months... it has gone by so fast! Some things he has been up to:

- climbing stairs (YIKES)
- speed crawler
- pulling up on everything and starting to cruise.
- waving bye bye
- dancing (the cutest)
- into EVERYTHING and mostly all the things he shouldn't like outlets, cords, toilets, etc.

Those are mostly the new things anyway. He has been so fun lately, I can't get enough of his giggles and energy. Yeah, it wears me out a little, but it's totally worth it! We have had a busy month and he has been such a trooped and I never hear a peep out of him.

We went to Twin to visit my parents. My dad gave Mr. Curious a grand tour of the yard. He is officially obsessed the Ozzie the cat.

Nana, Papa, and Mimi came to visit and he soaked up all the attention!

Attempting the stairs (looking a little homely)! He thinks he is so big.
Ohmygosh... he loves baths more than he loves anything. If you could only hear the squeals of delight when he hears that bath water running!

This is his favorite table. He climbs on it, sucks in it, crawls under it, eats on it, and apparently watches the Today Show over it (oh wait... that would be me). Poor kid is going to grow up with Ann Curry or Al Roker being his idol!

He loves rugs... yes rugs. He crawls to all of them in the house and flips up all the corners until he finds the tags. Funny huh??? Sometimes he just b-lines it to a rug just to sit on it. Random, I know.

Just being cute.... he's pretty good at that. I think so anyway.

Thanks for indulging me.

He's A Big Boy Now

Landon, that is. He is the age that everbody lies about being and wishes they were.... 29!!!! I am a little late on this post, but Happy Birthday darlin! He enjoyed playing his new golf clubs, a dinner to Tucanos (i am still full) and his favorite chocolate cake.... sounds like the perfect day.

Maddie and Ella made Landon a pretty sweet birthday visor. I declare it a tradition that it must be worn on every birthday from now on!

Daxton missed out on the festivities, but the decor lives on at our house as a form of entertainment. He's totally obsessed with the ballons!

8 months!

I love doing these monthly posts so I can look back to see how far Daxton has come and how much he has grown! I can tell you one thing.... he is growing WAY to fast! There are so many moments that I want time to stop so I am just trying to enjoy every second. We have been traveling a LOT lately and everybody says how good, mellow, and happy he is. I guess I need to start counting my blessing for that because I don't recognize it all the time! He might be all of those things, but he is also one of the wiggliest little critters EVER known on this earth. Holy cow.... the kid cannot sit still to save his life. Dang I love him though... SOOOOO much! Here are some things he has been up to...

-crawling like a maniac
-also figured out how to climb stairs.... eeeeeeeks. Time for gates I suppose.
-pulls to standing up
-loves to play under the table and climb all over it
-babbles dada, baba, mama
-fake coughing
-waving byebye (cutest thing ever)
-eats me out of house and home! Seriously, this kid can put it down and is still skinny!
-loves to be tickled and giggles like crazy
-loves to be outside
-is getting really good at feeding himself, but I don't let him all the time because it is SUCH a mess.
-he doesn't know a stranger and will go to anybody without a flinch
-sleeps 12 hours at night for the most part and takes two naps during the day.
-gives big -slobbery -open -mouth kisses.... YUM
-still no teeth, but I don't think it will be long
-this kid is tough as nails! such a boy!

Ummmmm..... can't think of anything else right now, but I LOVE this age. It is so so so fun. We are still adjusting our lives to the crawling, but I am starting to like it more and more.

His eyes are the craziest color and I so love them! They are mostly grayish/blueish but also have some green and brown speckals. SO beautiful.

He loves putting his feet on things and eats like this most of the time. Silly boy. See all that food? Yep, he eats all of it and cries when it's all gone.

This is under the table where he spends most of his time. He got a little high centered and I had to rescue him. Little Mr. Curious.
Yep, under the table again... see that sharp point to the right? Yeah, that scares me too. Next post he might not have an eye.

Under the coffee table..... that might have to go in storage for awhile to avoid concussions.

Welp, that is what we have been up to around here! I tried to post some little videos of crawling and waving, but they didn't work. sorry. :(
I have a lot of blogging to catch up on so stay tuned!
